  • Family Services Support Assistant

    Position Title: Family Services Support Assistant
    Position Type: Canada Summer Jobs Contract
    Location: 1510 Main Street West, Hamilton, ON

    JOB SUMMARY
    The Family Services Support Assistant (FSSA) reports to the Manager, Family Services and welcomes, registers and provides support to all Ronald McDonald House Charities® South Central Ontario (RMHC®SCO) families. In addition to this support, the FSSA performs various administrative tasks, provides aid to any arising emergency situations, and supports the overall operations of the House during their shift.

    SCHEDULING
    • 10-week contract (28 hours per week)
    • Availability to cover various shifts weekdays, weeknights or weekends
    • Coverage for Statutory Holidays

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Provide support to new and existing RMHC®SCO families
    • Provide communication / support to volunteers on duty
    • Provide risk management and emergency support
    • Provide administrative support to full time staff
    • Respond to critical repairs that emerge

    SPECIFIC DUTIES:
    Families
    • Coordinate new family referrals with hospital and families
    • Assign rooms to accommodate families, assess priorities of families’ needs in that assignment
    • Welcome and acquaint families to the House and its services
    • Update registered family lists and daily waiting list
    • Provide support for family inquiries as needed
    • Complete check-out process and coordinate housekeeping for out-going families
    • Respond to those who are having difficulty coping and refer to the appropriate resources
    • Report matters of concern in a timely manner to the Manager, Family Services
    Administrative
    • Complete end-of-day reports and deposits as per RMHC®SCO approved process
    • Ensure proper procedures are followed for receipt of donations (monetary and gift-in-kind)
    • Enter family files into database and update as required
    • Prepare family stats (inputting family info in database, collecting statistics)
    • Perform various administrative tasks as required
    • Update daily communication tools with pertinent details from each shift
    Volunteer Management
    • Provide training support to volunteers
    • Assist Manager of Volunteer Services with administrative tasks as required
    • Provide backup support to Family Room and Family Room volunteers

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Excellent computer skills in the following programs: Database management, Word, Excel
    • Proven excellence in organization, prioritization, and attention to detail essential
    • Satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check is required
    Canada Summer Jobs opportunities with RMHC®SCO are open to all youth aged 18 to 30 years.

  • Housekeeper

    Position Title: Housekeeper
    Position Type: Canada Summer Jobs Contract
    Location: 1510 Main Street West, Hamilton, ON

    JOB SUMMARY
    At RMHC®SCO, a clean and germ-free environment is vital to the health and well-being of the families we serve. Under the supervision of the Housekeeping Lead, the Canada Summer Jobs role will provide additional support with general housekeeping and laundry duties, as well as ensuring all areas and guest rooms meet the highest cleaning standards.

    SCHEDULING
    Contract Details: 28 hours per week for 10-week contract
    • Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 9am to 10pm, weekday and weekends

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and as-needed cleaning tasks in accordance with RMHC® Operational Standards
    • Complete tasks to the required level of RMHC®SCO Service Standards
    • Communicate any maintenance and ordering needs to the Housekeeping Lead

    SPECIFIC DUTIES
    Housekeeping Responsibilities
    • Prepare guestrooms for the arrival of new families
    • Provide additional supplies for guestrooms as necessary (i.e. towels, bedding, etc.)
    • Clean and sanitize all common bathrooms
    • Sweep/vacuum floors
    • Clean/tidy common areas
    • Organize storage rooms as required

    Health and Safety
    • Training will include proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE is provided by the House) as well as infection prevention and control measures
    • Perform duties in accordance with Health and Safety standards
    • Report any health and safety concerns to Housekeeping Lead

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Attention to detail is essential
    • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
    • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
    • Ability to work within a team environment
    • Satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check
