  • Housekeeping Lead

    Position Title: Housekeeping Lead
    Position Type: Full-Time
    Reports To: Director of Programs & Operations
    Location: 1510 Main Street West, Hamilton, ON

    JOB SUMMARY:
    At RMHC®SCO, a clean and germ-free environment is vital to the health and well-being of the families we serve. Reporting to the Director of Programs & Operations, the Housekeeping Lead is responsible for overseeing and carrying out daily servicing within the House to ensure that the overall cleanliness and appearance of RMHC®SCO meets pre-set standards.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Ensure all housekeeping staff/housekeeping volunteers meet service standards of cleanliness as outlined in RMHC®SCO House Operations Manual
    • Ensure all interactions of the housekeeping team represent the brand and mission of RMHC®SCO
    • Perform and coordinate the completion of daily, weekly, monthly and as-needed cleaning tasks as outlined in RMHC®SCO House Operations Manual
    • Ensure all common areas and bathrooms are cleaned and sanitized regularly throughout the day
    • Ensure vacated guest rooms are prepared to RMHC®SCO standards and ready for new families on the wait list in a timely manner
    • Support the training of part-time housekeeping staff and new housekeeping volunteers
    • Assist with scheduling, supervising and supporting of part-time housekeeping staff/housekeeping volunteers, as needed
    • Prepare and provide administrative data/statistics related to part-time housekeeping hours/schedule, as needed
    • Observe, inspect, monitor quality of work of the part-time housekeeping staff/volunteers and provide additional training and coaching, as required
    • Maintain housekeeping supply inventory
    • Work with the Director of Programs & Operations to coordinate the replacement of housekeeping appliances and equipment
    • Communicate any ordering needs and maintenance issues to the Director of Programs & Operations and Facilities Supervisor
    • Report any concerns, damage, theft, or other issues to the Director of Programs & Operations
    • Provide support to the Director of Programs & Operations with regards to all infection prevention and control related housekeeping processes
    • Ensure all Health and Safety requirements are met and followed
    • Ensure the housekeeping team performs duties in accordance with Health and Safety standards

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Minimum of 2 years work-related experience
    • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience is preferred
    • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk significant distances (including up/downstairs)
    • Advanced knowledge of cleaning procedures and techniques
    • Demonstrated customer service skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
    • Attention to detail and ability to organize and maintain orderly work environment
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel programs is preferred
    • Satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Record Check is required

    SCHEDULING:
    • 40 hours per week
    • Scheduling of 5, 8 hour shifts per week will be arranged with the successful candidate (daytime/evening/weekend shifts scheduled between 8:00 am and 10:00pm)
    • Must be available to work some Statutory Holidays

  • Part-time Housekeeper

    Position Title: Housekeeper
    Position Type: Part-time
    Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor
    Office Location: 1510 Main Street West, Hamilton, ON

    JOB SUMMARY
    At RMHC®SCO, a clean and germ-free environment is vital to the health and well-being of the families we serve. Reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor, housekeepers are responsible for all general housekeeping and laundry duties, as well as ensuring all areas and guest rooms meet the highest cleaning standard.

    SCHEDULING
    • Approximately 4 to 16+ hours per week
    • 4-5 hour shifts between the hours of 9am to 10pm, weekday and weekends including statutory holidays

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and as-needed cleaning tasks in accordance with operational standards
    • Complete tasks to the required level of RMHC®SCO Service Standards
    • Communicate any maintenance and ordering needs to the Housekeeping Supervisor

    SPECIFIC DUTIES
    Housekeeping Responsibilities
    • Prepare guestrooms for the arrival of new families
    • Replace bedding and towels in guestrooms as per weekly schedule
    • Clean and sanitize all common bathrooms
    • Sweep/vacuum floors
    • Clean/tidy common areas
    • Organize storage rooms as required
    *Please note that some of the above noted responsibilities have been modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Health and Safety
    • Training will include proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE is provided by the House) as well as infection prevention and control measures
    • Perform duties in accordance with Health and Safety standards
    • Report any health and safety concerns to Health & Safety Committee

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • 1-2 years housekeeping experience is preferred
    • Attention to detail is essential
    • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts (days, especially evenings and weekends)
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
    • Ability to work within a team environment
    • Satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check

  • Regional Development Specialist

    Position Title: Regional Development Specialist
    Position Type: 12 Month Contract
    Reports To: Director of Development & Donor Relations
    Office Location: 1510 Main Street West, Hamilton, ON

    JOB SUMMARY:
    Reporting to the Director of Development & Donor Relations, the Regional Development Specialist will have a regional donor focus (Kitchener/Waterloo/Guelph/Cambridge OR Niagara/Haldimand/Norfolk/Brant) with the goal of achieving maximum financial support for RMHC®SCO’s Annual Giving Program. The Regional Development Specialist will act as a liaison to corporate, family and individual donors, as well as schools and service club third-party groups who are raising funds for the House in their assigned regional territory. The Regional Development Specialist works closely with all members of the Development team in support of their function. Overall focus will be placed on transforming existing relationships into multifaceted donor partnerships that engage donors throughout the region, as well as cultivating and stewarding new regional-based relationships.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES:
    Regional Fundraising:
    • Act as the lead for all fundraising activities within the region with a focus on corporate and major individual giving.
    • Steward relationships with new regional partners to encourage ongoing support.
    • Develop a recognition plan for these regional groups.
    • Act as a resource for third-party regional events providing information, promotional material, resources as needed.
    • Presentations to, and House tours for returning, new, and potential donors.
    • House representative at donor and/or regional events as required.
    • Answer general, memorial, or in-honour donation related questions while being available to thank and steward donors at front reception when possible.
    Special Events and Donor Relations:
    • Work with the RMHC®SCO team on all of the major House special events which include but are not limited to; Footsteps for Families, Gala, and Annual Golf Classic.
    • Research, cultivate and secure sponsors and auction items for both live and silent auctions.
    • Coordinate volunteer tasks and recruit appropriate volunteer support for House special events in partnership with the Manager, Volunteer Services.
    • Assist with the cultivation, stewardship and recognition of all monetary and gift-in-kind sponsors and major donors for the House in general and all signature events. This would include execution of room opening ceremonies.
    Corporate Donations and Partnerships:
    • Identify and engage new Corporate Partners throughout the designated region, in support of the work and mission of the House.
    • Steward existing Corporate Partners with the goal of maintaining and increasing their support of the House.
    • Implementation of region-specific Corporate Recognition.
    Meals That Heal:
    • Work with the Director of Development & Donor Relations to identify needs and build an asset base to offer to Regional groups and members.
    • Work with Development Coordinator on Meals That Heal Regional scheduling, tours or tour assignments, Bistro night prep and volunteer group training and post-event follow-up and recognition.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • 3 to 5 years experience in a corporate/individual giving fundraising role is required
    • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
    • Strong relationship building and time management skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
    • Strong relationship management skills, with success developing and cultivating relationships
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office – PowerPoint, Excel, Word as the Regional Development Specialist will design, create, present corporate giving proposals
    • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
    • Experience with Raiser’s Edge database software is an asset
    • Flexibility to work evening/weekends and travel throughout region as required
    • Valid Driver’s License with clean Driver Abstract
    • Satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check is required
