My Baby, Ajooni, had shoulder dystocia at birth. It was a traumatic and upsetting experience during delivery, especially since I am a single mom waiting for my husband to arrive to Canada. When I first found out that Ajooni will be staying in NICU at McMaster Children’s Hospital after my discharge post-delivery, my first thought was, “how will I manage to be with my baby as I live far away?”
That’s when my social worker told me about RMHC SCO.
At first I was a bit anxious about the stay and all, but when I got to the House, my experience was more than I can describe in words. The environment was very welcoming – not only for me but for my parents as well, as they were helping me out and had language barrier. The staff was accommodating with my family in all ways. RMHC SCO made my journey at the hospital much easier than I could have thought. If it wasn’t able to stay at RMHC SCO, it would have been nearly impossible for me to be with my baby everyday.
I personally see RMHC as a gift from God during an emergency. I and my baby thank each and every member at RMHC for their hospitality and kind words during our stay.
Thank you,
Samriti and Ajooni
