The Paul Family

Our story starts in the 36th week of pregnancy with our first son, Carson. Through a routine ultrasound it was determined that our little boy had developed congenital hydrocephalus, water on the brain. When Carson was born he stayed in the NICU for over two weeks for observation, testing and to monitor any issues related to his illness.

We would be back and forth between our home in St. Catharines and McMaster Children’s Hospital over the next year for Carson’s first brain surgery at the age of four weeks and to treat the complications that would follow. As first time parents it was imperative that we remain by the side of our new baby boy. It broke our hearts to think that we would have to be separated during a time when we desperately needed each other.

This is when we were introduced to Ronald McDonald House Charities® South Central Ontario (RMHC®SCO). During the course of our stays at RMHCSCO we saw firsthand the House’s compassion for people in need. RMHCSCO has touched so many families’ lives, including our own and we are so grateful to them. The House has become a safe place to us, we feel connected to it and the people it serves; they have become a part of our family.

Please consider making a donation to RMHCSCO to help families like ours.
