The Secord-Peddle Family

Our story starts with our beautiful little girl, Lilly Marie-Lynn Secord, born at 34 weeks on July 4th. I was pretty sick most of my pregnancy as I have type 1 diabetes-making it extra challenging at times. Lilly has a small ventricular septal defect (VSD) in her heart and only 1 kidney. I guess she just really didn't want to leave me because she got stuck at birth and broke her collarbone and arm. Our poor girl.

While Lilly spent her time in the NICU, the next step was to figure out what to do about her breathing - Josh and I decided that a tracheostomy would be the way forward. This surgery would require Josh and I to be trained on how to take care of Lilly properly and how to respond if there was ever an emergency.

After her surgery, the healing part was scary – Josh and I were first time parents and didn't have a clue as to what we were doing. We took it day-by-day and stayed strong for our Lilly. E After about 7 months, Lilly graduated from the NICU in February and we made it to the PICU! We were so excited this day as we were one step closer to home!

It seems like just yesterday that Josh and I first stepped into the doors of RMHC South Central Ontario - we could not have been as successful and happy as we are if we didn't have them here for us. RMHCSCO has truly has been a home away from home for us. If we do go home for anything, it feels weird and we end up missing the House.

As of July 2022, we are still here at the House - when we do finally get to go home we will miss it and all relationships we had made here so very much. Thank you RMHCSCO - we can't even begin to explain how grateful we are for the support and help we've received.
