Our son Grayson was born August 1, 2014 at 26 weeks gestation. Grayson ended up having four surgeries on his bowel and fought many infections during his 271 day stay in the NICU. Our beautiful boy had tubes sewn to him, a colostomy bag attached to his bowel and was reliant on a feeding machine.
During all of this chaos and time of uncertainty, Ronald McDonald House South Central Ontario (RMHCSCO) was able to bring some sense of normalcy back in to our lives. Being able to actually see the hospital from where I was staying and know that Grayson was merely steps away is what enabled me to remain strong for my son. It was because of RMHCSCO that I was able to keep my energy up through a warm meal and a goodnight’s sleep without having to travel all the way back to Welland.
On April 28, 2015, after 263 nights at the House, Grayson was finally discharged and we were able to go home as a family. We will be forever grateful to RMHCSCO for making it possible to be strong parents for our even stronger miracle boy!
