The Story

At Ronald McDonald House Charities® South Central Ontario (RMHC SCO), love is at the heart of everything we do. Every decision we make is grounded in one guiding question: How can we make this experience better for the families who rely on us? Whether it’s a warm meal, a clean bed, or a quiet moment of peace, we strive to wrap families in care during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

That’s why we’re so proud to announce a very special gift - our long-time supporters at Rexall Care Network has committed $150,000 to build and support one of the most meaningful and beloved spaces in our House: the Rexall Care Network Wellness Room.

When people think of a Ronald McDonald House, they often picture a bright playroom, a stocked games room, and happy distractions for children. But behind every guest door, is a caregiver carrying an unimaginable weight. That’s why the Rexall Care Network Wellness Room is so important. At RMHC, and at Rexall, we know that caring for caregivers is just as essential as caring for children.

We created this room with one purpose: to recognize the quiet resilience of parents, and to give them a space to simply be. A place to exhale, to rest, and to remember that their well-being matters too. With massage chairs, yoga and meditation tools, and a calming atmosphere, this room is designed to restore and recharge. And it’s used every single day by parents who have been stretched emotionally, physically, and mentally while caring for a seriously ill child.

From the moment I walked into the House, the Wellness Room was the first space I was able to spend time in while I waited for our room to be ready. The Wellness Room now has been a part of my daily life. When caring for a critically ill child, your life is put on hold and all focus is on getting them better. Having a space to do something for myself each day is very important.

The mission of Rexall Care Network so beautifully aligns with ours. Their generous gift will help fund ongoing wellness programming, essential equipment, and therapeutic supports that put caregivers first. Together, we are sending families a powerful message: You matter too.
