Volunteers are the heart and soul of Ronald McDonald House Charities® South Central Ontario (RMHC®SCO). We rely on our team of dedicated and committed volunteers who play a valuable role in the day-to-day running of our House, the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms® and caring for our families.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering. We have paused volunteer recruitment during our Season of Giving and holiday time, and will re-start our volunteer recruitment in the new year.
Thank you for submitting an application to become a volunteer. At this time, we are not recruiting for new volunteers, but will reach back out in the new year once we are ready to fill new roles.
We place the most suitable volunteer in each position at Ronald McDonald House. Our placement decision is based on the availability of the volunteer, our scheduling needs, and the skills required for each position. Therefore, we prefer you volunteer in one area for a minimum of six months before exploring other opportunities. After this time, you are welcome to hold multiple roles as long as you have received appropriate training in each area.
Volunteers receive a general orientation, hands-on training and ongoing support in their roles.
We strive to be as flexible as possible to make volunteering easier. While we’d love to have you here often, volunteers are expected to commit to two shifts per month. Volunteers may select from a variety of shifts. We will work together to find a role that meets your availability and schedule.
You must be 18 years of age or older to apply to volunteer and a minimum commitment of one year is expected. (Note: there are select opportunities for applicants 16 years and older to volunteer accompanied by an adult 18 years or older.)
You must have a clear police check (criminal records and judicial matters check) no more than three months old.
Family Room and Happy Wheels Hospitality Cart Volunteers must also provide proof of immunizations and two-step TB test.
Once we have had a chance to review your application, if you are considered a potential candidate, we will contact you to arrange an interview.
Volunteering with Ronald McDonald House can be a rewarding experience for those dedicated to making a positive contribution to making our House a home-away-from home. We are looking for volunteers who are customer service oriented, compassionate and dependable.
