Ronald McDonald House Charities^® South Central Ontario Ways To Help

While it costs about $159 to care for a family for a night, our House provides families with an emotionally supportive home away from home for only $12 per night. However, no family is ever turned away due to their inability to pay.

McMaster Children’s Hospital is one of the top paediatric academic health science centers in Canada. It serves a community of over 2.3 million people from South Central Ontario and beyond. This large geographic region results in many children under their care from cities and towns many kilometres away. These children need the support of their parents and siblings while undergoing treatment, and parents and siblings need a safe and supportive environment to stay strong. Ronald McDonald House Charities® South Central Ontario attempts to help families feel closer to home when life is far from ordinary.

Approximately 30 per cent of the House’s annual operating budget comes from Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada, donations from McDonald’s Happy Meal Program, coin boxes, the RMHC Cookie program, McDonald's kiosk donations and the nominal fee for families to stay at the House. No funding is received from any agency or government, so the remaining 70 per cent is raised through fundraising activities and through the contribution of our generous donors.

Complaints Policy

Kids Care Oncology Central West Ontario (“KCOCWO”) operating as Ronald McDonald House Charities® South Central Ontario (“RMHC South Central Ontario”) is registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (“CRA”) as a registered charity bearing # 13277 9836 RR0001.

As a charity providing services to the community, KCOCWO holds all donors, partners, volunteers and community members in high esteem. While seeking donations in support of the organization’s mission, employees, volunteers and members of the Board of Directors, have an ethical responsibility to uphold the interest and well-being of KCOCWO’s benefactors and comply with all established policies.

KCOCWO responds promptly to a complaint by a donor, prospective donor, or any member of the public.  The staff member receiving the complaint will attempt to satisfy the complainant’s concerns in the first instance. A complainant who remains dissatisfied will be informed that he/she may communicate directly with KCOCWO’s Chief Executive Officer (re: donor complaints) and/or the President of the Board of Directors or Director of Development & Donor Relations.

The KCOCWO Board of Directors will be informed at least annually of the number, type, and disposition of complaints received from donors or prospective donors about matters that are addressed in Imagine Canada’s Ethical Code.  In addition, they will be informed at least annually of the number, type and disposition of complaints received from members of the public regarding policy matters.

All employees and volunteers of Ronald McDonald House Charities® South Central Ontario are required to comply with privacy policies designed to protect the confidentiality of your personal information. Families and visitors:

The purpose of collecting personal information about family members and their visitors is to:

• Determine a family members needs and eligibility to stay at Ronald McDonald House Charities® South Central Ontario;
• Consult with health care professionals as necessary to provide services;
• Arrange for and receive any payments; Provide follow-up support as required;
• Keep them informed about programs, services, special events and opportunities to volunteer or to give;
• Allow effective administration of Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario and its policies.

Financial donors, event participants and sponsors:

The purpose for collecting personal information about financial donors, event participants and sponsors is to:

• Thank them for their financial support;
• Maintain tax records as required by law;
• Send out charitable donation receipts;
• Establish and maintain harmonious donor relationships;
• Keep them informed about programs, services, special events and opportunities to volunteer or to give;
• Respond to a request made by a lawful authority or for other purposes required by law.

We do not rent, sell or trade our mailing lists.

We never disclose your personal information, unless required by law, without your knowledge and consent.

Unless you advise us otherwise, by receiving or reading this Privacy Policy, you are deemed to have given us your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.
