August 23, 2024 (Niagara, Ont.) — Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario (RMHC SCO) along with Niagara Community Foundation (NCF) proudly announced a generous $150,000 grant from the NCF’s David S. Howes Fund.
Family Rooms are an extension of RMHC. They provide respite areas directly inside the hospital to ensure that families in need can take care of themselves while remaining close to their hospitalized children.
The space will be located on the fourth floor, outside the Children’s Health Unit and feature respite areas, laundry, no-cost food services and, in partnership with Niagara Health’s Children’s Health Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, family programming such as movie nights, toy drives and more.
“We would like to thank the Niagara Community Foundation and the David S. Howes Fund for supporting our mission by providing RMHC SCO with this extremely generous grant. This grant takes us one step closer to our goal” said Mario De Divitiis, CEO RMHC SCO.
“NCF is proud to continue to honour the Howes legacy by supporting RMHC SCO’s Niagara Family Room,” says Bryan Rose, NCF’s Executive Director. “This initiative honours David’s passion for health services and the betterment of Niagara. This beautiful space is a great example of how NCF can help turn the intent of our donors into amazing impact here in Niagara.”
Established in 2000, NCF connects donor to causes and communities to resources. Since inception, NCF has raised over $82.3 million and has granted in excess of $27.5 million to charities working in the arts, heritage, environment, social services, health, education and community development sectors. The David S. Howes Fund is an endowment fund under the umbrella of NCF.
