The Story
Niagara, ON (May 16, 2025) – Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) South Central Ontario, in proud partnership with Niagara Health, is thrilled to unveil a breathtaking new mural that now brightens the hallway just outside the Ronald McDonald Family Room at the Marotta Family Hospital. This vibrant and interactive piece of art transforms the space into a warm, welcoming environment for children receiving care, their families, and all visitors to the hospital.
“This mural brings a sense of comfort and imagination to a space that can often feel overwhelming for children and their families. It gives our young patients and their families something to look at, interact with and talk about during what can be - a really tough time,” says Natalie Doucet, Director, Women, Babies and Children’s Unit at Niagara Health. “We're so thankful to Willow Arts Community and Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario for bringing this mural to life.”
Brought to life through the creativity of Willow Arts Community – a Niagara-based arts organization supporting artists with lived mental health and addictions experiences – the mural is a celebration of community, hope, and healing – with more than a splash of fun. "We are grateful to have the opportunity to create a meaningful mural that will continue to impact families and staff for years to come. ‘The Enchanted Forest’ was created with love and a touch of magic by artists Tammy Fenner, Andrea Eby, and Dani Hummel." – Leigh MacLeod, Director, Willow Arts Community RMHC proudly acknowledges and thanks the incredible artists for their vision, creativity, and dedication to this project. Their work has transformed the hallway into a space filled with joy, imagination, and a deep sense of care that resonates with everyone who experiences it. The engaging, interactive design invites moments of connection, distraction, and delight for children and families alike.
“This mural is more than just paint on a wall – it’s a reflection of the love, care, and compassion we strive to bring to every family who walks through our doors,” said Mario De Divitiis, CEO of RMHC South Central Ontario. “Partnering with Niagara Health and Willow Arts Community to create this piece has been an incredible experience. It’s heartwarming to see the way this artwork uplifts spirits and makes our space feel more like home.”
