The Lebelle Family

We were terrified when our daughter Mia was born 13 weeks early - with two children at home we had no idea what we were going to do.  Mia was very sick and had so many obstacles to overcome; we knew we needed to stay by her side to help her overcome them. But being from Thorold - an hour drive away from McMaster Children’s Hospital - we weren’t sure how we were going to do that.

Thankfully, the day after Mia was born, our social worker told us about staying at Ronald McDonald House across the street. We heard of the organization before but didn’t fully understand what they had to offer since we never used their service… until now.

Let me tell you, staying at the House did not disappoint - we are so grateful to have been able to stay for 181 nights while Mia was in the NICU. We have no idea what we would have done without Ronald McDonald House.

From the moment we walked into to the House it felt like home. Everyone was so friendly and genuine, that helped me in some of my darkest days. Carter was the first person we met and she made us feel so at home. Ronald McDonald House truly thinks of everything; being so close to the NICU and having a place to rest made our journey so much more manageable.

Our favorite memory from our time a the House is relaxing in the massage chairs in the Wellness Room after long days in the NICU. It was a piece of serenity we looked forward to.

My husband Ryan and I both celebrated our birthdays at the House as well as Christmas, New Years and Easter. We are so thankful for everything the staff and volunteers did during the holidays to make you feel at home.

Fundraising for RMHC SCO, now that we have utilized the home, means everything to us. We will never stop telling people about our experience staying at RMHC South Central Ontario and the charity is now our fundraiser of choice.
